First set of Hometown Hero banners

CANASTOTA, NY – The first series of “Hometown Hero” banners have been hung along S. Peterboro Street in the Village of Canastota.

The banners, which recognize local servicemembers who are from the Canastota area, are the result of a joint effort between the Village of Canastota and the Canastota Sons of the American Legion. The banners are sponsored by friends, family members, businesses or organizations. Eligible candidates include active duty, retired, honorably discharged, and those who gave their life in action in one of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Priority is given to Canastota residents, followed by Lenox residents, then Canastota natives who have moved away.
