Canastota Police make drug-related arrest at local deli
CANASTOTA, NY – An employee at a local deli and convenience store has been arrested after a raid by the Canastota Police Department.
On the morning of July 24, 2024, Canastota police officers executed a search warrant at the Top-1 Deli on S. Peterboro Street. Officers recovered a quantity of illegal marijuana, flavored vapes, untaxed cigarettes, and cash.
After a lengthy investigation, 28-year-old Mohamed Alhoshishi of Syracuse was charged with the following:
– Unlawful possession of cannabis (violation)
– Unlawful sale or possession of unstamped cigarettes (misdemeanor)
– Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle (misdemeanor)
Alhoshishi was issued appearance tickets and released.
“We don’t have a problem with legitimate businesses in our community, but when someone tries selling these products to our youth we’re going to keep shutting them down,” said Canastota Police Chief Sean Barton.
