2025 Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony
CANASTOTA, NY – The Village of Canastota, in conjunction with American Legion Post #140, is pleased to announce the annual Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony.
This year’s parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 26. The parade steps off at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and N. Peterboro Street (State Route 13) and proceeds south on Peterboro Street through the village, ending at Clark Park, near the intersection with State Route 5.
A public ceremony honoring members of the community who gave their lives in service to our country will take place immediately following the conclusion of the parade. An open house and refreshments will be offered after the ceremony at the American Legion Post at the corner of S. Peterboro and Rasbach.
The parade will be preceded by the Canastota Memorial Day Run/Walk, a one-mile event sponsored by the Canastota Recreation Commission, VFW Post #600 and Sons of the American Legion Post #140. The run/walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and will take place on Peterboro Street prior to the start of the parade.
Peterboro Street between Maple Avenue and Route 5 will be closed to all vehicles on the morning of the parade. Traffic will be detoured to Main Street for the duration of the parade and ceremony, which traditionally ends at approximately 12:00 p.m. Officers from the Canastota Police Department and Canastota Fire Department will monitor intersections to ensure safety.
