Christmas tree pickup information

The Village of Canastota will once again provide for the pickup of Christmas trees this holiday season.

The service will begin the week of January 5, 2025 and will continue one day per week (usually Monday or Tuesday) for the rest of the month.

Village residents can bring their trees to the curb for pickup by the Department of Public Works. The trees will be taken to the village’s dump site for composting. However, there are a few conditions that need to be met for your tree to be accepted:

– Trees must be real (no artificial trees)
– Do not put the trees in plastic bags or any other containers
– Remove all ornaments and other decorations
– Leave the tree at the curb

This service is for the pickup of whole, live trees only. Do not leave any leaf bags, branches or brush at the curb, because they will not be taken. Regular yard waste pickup has ended for the season.
