Hometown Heroes banner program

The Village of Canastota and the Canastota Sons of the American Legion want to show appreciation to our veterans, past and present, who served in our Armed Forces by offering the “Hometown Heroes” banner program.

Historically, the banners are sponsored by friends, family members, businesses or organizations. Eligible candidates include active duty, retired, honorably discharged, and those who gave their life in action in one of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Priority is given to Canastota residents, followed by Lenox residents, then Canastota natives who have moved away.

The cost of one banner is $145. Each banner is expected to last 3-5 years.

To nominate a Hometown Hero, fill out the attached form and return it to the Canastota village office (205 S. Peterboro Street) or mail it to one of the addresses listed. Anyone who has a question about the program can call the village office at (315) 697-7559 or email village@canastota.com.
