Mill Street demolition project
CANASTOTA, NY – The Village of Canastota will undertake a project in late October and early November to demolish a condemned residential building.
The house, located at 116 Mill Street, was declared an unsafe structure in accordance with Chapter 73 of the village code by the Village of Canastota Board of Trustees at a public administrative hearing on July 23, 2025. The house was severely damaged by a fire on May 1, 2025 and was subsequently determined by the village codes enforcement office to be unsafe for human occupancy.
The demolition will be performed by Dangca Demolition of Oneonta, which was awarded the contract after a public sealed bid process. A2Z Environmental of Pulaski will perform air quality monitoring services. Cleanup of the property is tentatively scheduled to begin on October 24, with demolition to begin on November 3 – weather permitting.
Portions of Railroad Street and Mill Street may be temporarily closed while work is underway, to allow for the safe removal of the building.
