Hiring: Recreation Director

Recreation Director sought for part time position in the Village of Canastota. This position includes typical activities such as:

1. Plans and coordinates all phases of the recreation programs and works with all groups interested in recreation;
2. Prepares and manages program budgets including personal services, materials, supplies, and estimates of revenues;
3. Recruits, selects, trains, and assigns professional and non-professional personnel; directs or supervises their activities in a manner conducive to good work relationships;
4. Promotes the organization and administration of recreation activities in an attempt to insure maximum efficiency;
5. Coordinates separate and co-sponsored programs and events with other community groups and school;
6. Prepares and distributes publicity material and speaks to civic groups on recreation;
7. Represents the department at meetings;
8. Keeps records and makes periodic reports

Minimum Qualifications include:

1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Master’s degree in Recreation or closely related field; OR
2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a closely related field and one (1) year of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, experience in the conduct of recreation activities in which incumbent independently assessed participants’ needs, developed recreation programs or activities to fill those needs, evaluated activities and programs and redesigned activities as necessary
